Rush Hour...

It was 4:15pm when Talmadge picked me up from my day job. I knew we would run into traffic but I did not anticipate that much. Alex, needed us at the Boys' Club of New York no later than 6pm and the god said we'd get there at 6:10. We knew we would chop that time now by sifting through traffic. I accidentally made a wrong turn and our Eta was pushed back to 6:25. That's when we got a little nervous. After letting Alex know that we'd be late, he responded shortly after saying that the program was pushed back by a half hour. THANK GOD!! Once we got there, the lady at the sign indesk told us that the program was over. We were upset but still wanted to go say wassup to Alex. When we reached the second floor, we saw that the event was not over and that we had to present in 5 minutes. We threw our game faces on, I shoved half a pack of peach rings in my mouth, and got focused.

Alex set the tone for us, making everyone move up to the front. "Everyone! You will need to focus alll of your attention on these gentlemen. You won't regret it. This workshop is relevant for any age group!" We knew we had to rock the house now. NO PRESSURE ! After putting on an awesome workshop, people were lined up to talk to us. This isn't the first time that something like this happened but it was reassurance to us that what we have is great... and NECESSARY! We still have much work to do but we will continue to be great in all that we do....

Momma & Sister Bear pulled up!

Momma & Sister Bear pulled up!

So yesterday, I had the honor to be nominated for Newark's 30 under 30 by Them Cloud Kids. I did not win the Wellness Award but it is an honor in itself to be a part of the conversation. I take times like this to really recap on the series of events that I've experienced in life and I am truly grateful for the positive people that always pushed me to strive towards my full potential.

Beanz & Walt Boog

Beanz & Walt Boog

What exactly is potential? Is using the word potential or even full potential setting limitations for yourself. As I sit here, I don't really know what I would label as my "FULL POTENTIAL". I see myself as constantly thinking, constantly learning and constantly growing... so I would never reach my "FULL POTENTIAL " but add to it... Through it all, our work is far from done and we have a lot of new, innovative surprises for the world. College Shirt Tour Beanz...Over and out...

2nd Annual CST Hike 🌿

image.jpg

WATER, BUG-SPRAY, WAIVERS, & SHIRTS!! Those were key things that we needed for our adventure. Oh and POSITIVITY! It's the Fourth of July & it's our 2nd year hosting the CST Hiking Trip! Last year we had no idea if any one would even show up being that we came up with the idea a week prior. This year we started promoting a little earlier and still were unsure of the outcome. Only a few people confirmed and some backed out the night before but we still were very optimistic!

image.jpg

After arriving there a little before 8am, there was no one there besides most our team. Ten minutes later, cars began pulling into the lot left and right!! Over 50 people came out. Annastasia and Walt were getting people to fill out the waivers, Josh lead a stretch, Vaugn & Zack were taking footage, while Tal and Keith were conceding with everyone. After we introduced ourselves and the company, we began our hike!

image.jpg
image.jpg

20 minutes into the hike, we separated the introverts and extroverts and made them partner up. We wanted people who did not know each other to connect while embracing a new experience. We found a beautiful waterfall and of course everyone wanted to take selfies and snapchat videos.

image.jpg

As we continued our hike, we were looking for a lake. We starting going in different directions but eventually we started meeting people along the path who pointed us in the right direction. Walter was in the front of the people and I had the anchor. After hours of steep hills, surrounded by nature and great conversations, I hear people cheering. As I got closer to the top, I saw that we made it to the top of a mountain.

image.jpg

The view was incredible and everyone felt relieved. More selfies, more videos, but a handful of the crowd were exhausted. After we took our group picture, I read the CST Hiking Vow which states...

"I promise to suffer in silence.

To complain only when the job is done.

To only use words for motivation or to better understand those

whom I take this walk with.

To communicate my being through victory and not despair.

To grind not whine.

To except the challenge of the trail and to realize

that it was complete before it even began.

My mind is Powerful, Ferocious, Steadfast and Undaunted.

Even though I walk with many

I Walk Alone.

My comfort zone was there, but now I'm here.

I March forward"

image.jpg

We renewed everyone's enthusiasm and finished the hike STRONG!! We were excited about our outcome and that we could create this opportunity for everyone to CONNECT. The bug-spray wore off but the experience will live forever!

Dreams in drive

We are overly excited for everything that has come our way. A few weeks ago, we were interviewed by Dreams in Drive. It is a weekly podcast & community where creatives and lifestyle entrepreneurs share their personal keys to success and teach others how you can take your dreams out of PARK and into DRIVE. The podcast is hosted by blogger, writer and marketing consultant Rana Campbell.

This podcast is the first of many so as we continue to progress, we will continue to learn from every situation possible!!

Teaneck Stays Together...

image.jpg

Last night we had the opportunity to be a part of a networking event from a company called Teaneck Stays Together. What we found interesting about this group is that they target individuals from their community and push them to set goals and accomplish them. Every company that attended the event had a majority, if not all, of their staff be from Teaneck. I say that to say, a lot of entrepreneurs feel the need to outsource when it comes to developing a team but you may have strong candidates within your own personal network... My question to you is "Who are you connected to?"

image.jpg

One of the company's in attendance was Embracing the Crown. Embracing The Crown  is an organization dedicated to uplifting, empowering, and uniting women of color.  Women often feel as though they're fighting their battles alone, but in reality there is an entire community of women who have gone through similar situations that they can lean on. Through powerful events and workshops Embracing The Crown  will be the connectors that unite women and build this community. One of the co-founders, Jadea, is from Teaneck.

image.jpg

Another great up and coming company presented were the creators of the TOMO!® app. Their focus is to make navigating through all of your social media platforms easier by being able to access and use them all in one place. You can also share as much of your social media information with others that you wish. 99% of their staff is from Teaneck! Download the TOMO!® app today!

image.jpg

Through it all, we had 5 min to explain and to leave an impact on the room and that's exactly what we did. Being that Walter is from Teaneck, he wanted to let his longtime peers understand that what we do is great. Following his performance, I spoke to the audience and hit a home run. We then exchanged information with several business leaders and community leaders before the event was over. We are far from where we want to be but we will continue to take steps in the right direction.

Now where was I... Oh yeah! So this past summer on the 4th of July we hosted a Hiking Trip. We wanted to present an opportunity for a bunch of people to do something they've done and to meet different individuals...Though it started raining, we still ended up completing the hike and being victorious..

image.jpg

That following week, we met up with some friends at their TOMO™ App Launch Party.. Where they've created an application for you to organize and connect with others from all of your social media accounts... For more information, follow @TomoTheApp and download TOMO..

Shirts fresh out of the oven..Workshop Time #WillyP

image.jpg

Quick Story...So in 2014, we made it a hobby to attend networking events. One day, my cousin invited me to attend a networking event with him in NYC. I met a ton of cool people but one of the people I met was @Bianca_e_ from BET Networks. She is an extremely cool person and we kept in contact via email. With her busy schedule, she was able to attend one of our College Shirt Tour workshops and provide her expertise to the students at #WillyP..To sum it up, our connections were expanding...

image.jpg

Later that month, we agreed to go to Rutgers Caribbean Day 2k15. It was a great event. I also came to support @_musiccafe_ and they're amazing performance!! I got the back stage pass and all...

image.jpg

This workshop was very monumental to us. It was the first we have ever gotten paid to do an event and it was the our largest audience. Nervous? Not all...We had to rise to the occasion. Progress...

image.jpg

Quick Story... So being that I am on the winning Jersey Hop Team, we get emailed all the time to perform in step shows. A representative from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. invited us to perform at the North Atlantic Regional Conference in Atlantic City. Though we had to perform, we always have it in our mind to expand College Shirt Tour so we decided to get our shirts in their colors.  We networked and gave out a bunch of shirts to AKAs from all of the region... On top of winning the Step Show, we ACEd the situation...

image.jpg

Day after day, we are always on the LAB brainstorming and focusing on taking the company to the next level. I even decided to wear my lab coat to our workshop at Bloomfield College. Our lab coats are so filthy. You have no idea... #CollegeShirtTour #SayLessDoMORE #Polaroid #Vintage #ArtOfWar #BloomfieldCollege

On top of hosting workshops, we believe in building strong connections everywhere, and we planned to take a trip to the University of Albany. We knew we would need shirts at high demand because we had a busy schedule ahead of us and we knew we would need different color waves. Originally we were ordering our shirts from a company and it was expensive for us but we used our network and someone gave us the blueprint to make our own shirts...Cut out the middle man. God bless the PLUG 🔌...

image.jpg

This was a weekend to remember.. A lot of ups and downs but we finished on top.. University of Albany was great but back to the drawing board...

image.jpg

That following weekend, we took at trip to Syracuse University for #GUF(Peep the navy and orange tank 😉). Watched Jersey native Fetty Wap perform, hopped in a step show, and met Terrence J. again... I keep running into this dude 😅

In February 2015, we were presented with an opportunity to speak at El Concilio in Philadelphia which is a center that services the Hispanic community. Nervous isn't accurate enough to explain how I was feeling walking into the center to present to these high schoolers. After speaking to about 30 students and getting a standing ovation, I felt relieved but not at all satisfied. There was still a lot of work that needed to be done...

image.jpg

About a month after the first event, we set up our first ever college shirt tour meeting. This is the actual Polaroid picture we took. We added @smoothv22 made an addition to the team.. So many ideas, so much positive energy, we had to seize the moment..

image.jpg

Just a few days later, we had our 1st College Shirt Tour workshop at Kean University... We did well and had a solid turnout. Still much work to be done...

image.jpg

Quick Story.. So my frat brothers and I performed at the Barclays Center during halftime at the Big Apple Classic in December 2014. As I was walking in the lobby, a woman stopped me and told me how much she enjoyed our performance. Long story short, we networked. I told her about College Shirt Tour and she just so happens to be the Coordinator for the NY Latino College Expo. She offered me with an opportunity to speak at NYU and let's just say I Aced It 😉...#CollegeShirtTour #SayLessDoMORE #Polaroid #Vintage #ArtOfWar

The summer time passed and it was time to take the company to the next level. We knew people people would appreciate our shirts more if they had a stronger connection it to it.. Like their personal school color.

We printed out the personal color wave of shirts for William Paterson University in NJ. Then we really started buzzing... 🐝

image.jpg

We really took our talents on the road and headed to Greensboro for North Carolina A&T #GHOE... Maintained the momentum And proceeded to get shirts made for every campus that we touched...

image.jpg

Since I've joined my fraternity, purple and gold always catches my attention. We thought it would be a great idea to make our shirts in Greek colors now to make them more personal to some college students during #GHOE weekend. I even ran into my frat brother @iamterrenceJ , who's an alumni from North Carolina A&T.... #CollegeShirtTour #SayLessDoMORE #Polaroid #Vintage #ArtOfWar #GHOE #NCAT #TerrenceJ 🔑

It's funny what $3 can get you at the thrift store... The film costs more than the camera... But just like a Polaroid picture, things take time to develop...

After purchasing an order of 30 shirts, we were hype. The Atlanta Greek Picnic (@atlgreekpicnic1 ) was just around the corner. Years prior, I always arrived to Atlanta on Friday but I flew out there on Wednesday, June 4th, 2014 to make it to the Networking event that is hosted but least attended. I didn't even celebrate my birthday on June 3rd because I was so focused.. Met a lot of cool people from across the country, including the president of Atlanta Greek Picnic @tiwaworks, and gave out a lot of shirts. We were still at the drawing board but taking steps in the right direction...

image.jpg

Attention for #CollegeShirtTour began to pick up and we received an email from the Founder of @NewYorkGreekPicnic ! They understood how paramount it is to connect with people and utilize resources so they allowed us to speak at the picnic.

This was the first time we presented in front of a group of people but we took full advantage of the opportunity...#CollegeShirtTour #SayLessDoMORE #Polaroid #Vintage #NYGP #NewYorkGreekPicnic

After hours of traveling and hours at the drawing board thinking how can this unique hobby turn into something GREATER.. A conversation between two Jedi Knights happened and...

After days of doodling and getting feedback from friends.. Our logo was created.. And pressed on a shirt. Simple But Complex...Debuted at #DelState 😅

image.jpg

College Shirt Tour sounds cool. It's catchy and people like it but what else? We have a shirt and a logo by What else? We NEEDED a hook so we had to ask ourselves... "What are we doing when we visit these campuses?" We realized that on each campus, we would A.pproach people and found ways C.onnect that motivated us to E.xchange information. Yup, we ACED it... ♠️#CollegeShirtTour #SayLessDoMORE #Polaroid #Vintage #ArtOfWar

Back in Sept. 2013, it was my senior year on campus at #WillyP and I loved to visit different schools. I randomly went up to Kean University to hang with some friends and one of them let me have a shirt before I left the campus.

I went back to #Willyp, took a pic and uploaded it to IG. I received a lot of comments from some of my Kean followers saying things like "Why you wearing our shirt?" "You don't even go there! Lol" etc... At that moment I knew I was on to something...

image.jpg

After liking the attention from the upload of a pic wearing a shirt from a different school, that following weekend I went to TCNJ, Stockton College, & Rutgers University and got a shirt from each school. It was just a cool idea until my frat brother asked... "What are you on some College Shirt Tour or something?".....🤔

image.jpg

So the hobby had fully begun and I couldn't sit still to save my life.... More Schools were traveled to...

Just thoughts on paper... Something about this new found hobby was different. I knew it had potential, but what's potential without energy behind it...  #CollegeShirtTour #SayLessDoMORE #Polaroid #Vintage
